On 15th March 2018 over 50 teachers and educationalists came to Beech Lodge School to learn more about the impact of Developmental Trauma on children’s social and emotional functioning and how it may affect their school experience.

The session included:

  • A talk from Helen Costa, CEO, The Cornerstone Partnership, who introduced her ground-breaking Virtual Reality technology showing how early life trauma affects children's lives.
  • Alastair Lidster, Educational Psychologist, Beech Lodge School, gave an overview of how understanding children’s development can help interpret their behaviour and shape the interventions you use at school.
  • Lucy Barnes, Head Teacher of Beech Lodge School, imparted some specific examples, strategies and interventions that are implemented at the school and gave a quick introduction to the Fagus Educational resource, which is used to understand social and emotional functioning and monitor progress of its pupils.

After the very positive feedback, we hope to run more Workshops.  Please click here for more information and to register for our next one.
