Developmental Profiles

The information from the Developmental Checklists can be collated to create a Developmental Profile for the child, approximating their development across each emotional and social domain:
Example developmental profile Example developmental profile 2

The child’s Developmental Profile can be used to track developmental progression over time. It is recommended that the developmental profile is updated at least on an annual basis (e.g. before a pupil’s annual review).

The Developmental Checklists and Developmental Profiles are most useful when used alongside the Developmental Guides. Once the checklists have been used to create a Development Profile, the child’s main areas of need will be easily identifiable (i.e. the domains in which the child is most developmentally behind). Teaching staff can then use the relevant Developmental Guides to set developmentally appropriate goals for the pupil.
